Guardian Shield is not a 4% daily with a friendlier name
Unlimited Guardian uses 4% daily ($4,000) and 8% static max ($8,000) from the higher of day-start balance or equity at 00:00 server time (GMT+2/GMT+3). Elite Guardian widens max to 10%. Rapid Guardian 1-Step trails 6% with a 4% daily. FTMO 2-Step is 5% / 10% static. If you bought Unlimited because $400 on $100,000 undercut FTMO's $540, you also bought $2,000 less maximum air and a Shield that fires at $1,000 to $2,000 of float, well inside the daily.
Targets on Unlimited are 8% then 4% with zero minimum trading days and an 85% default split. Combined hurdle is 12% versus FTMO's 15%, and you can pass in two sessions. Payouts are bi-weekly from 14 days after the first funded trade, the same cadence family as FTMO. The 85% split is better than FTMO's 80% start. None of that helps if Shield flatten number three closes the funded account while FTMO would still have been inside 5%.
Zero days, 4% Phase 2, and a 5-minute funded news window
Blue Guardian allows EAs and risk managers. The Shield is the real risk manager, and it is not optional in the way a Venasri guard is yours to set. Funded news uses a 5-minute window unless you buy a news add-on. Overnight and weekend holding is allowed. FTMO Standard uses 2 minutes and a weekend flatten; Swing uses neither restriction. Platforms are MT5, Match-Trader, and TradeLocker. No cTrader, no DXtrade, no MT4. If your desk is cTrader, this comparison is already over.
Two or three Shield strikes terminate the funded account on the published pattern. That is closer to a broker-side stop-out policy than to FTMO risk review. You can trade "inside" 4% daily and still be struck because a 1.6% gold dip on a scaled idea hit Shield. FTMO would have counted that dip as part of the 5% and left you in the trade if your own stop was wider. Whether that is protection or interference depends on whether you wanted a 1.5% idea cap.
Who should accept Shield, and who should pay for air
Pick Blue Guardian Unlimited if you already risk 0.35% to 0.50%, you never scale into more than about 1% of float, you want 8% then 4% with zero days and an 85% split, and you will treat Shield as a hard idea cap. Pick Elite if you need the 10% max and still accept Shield. Pick FTMO if you scale into structure, you need $5,000 daily and $10,000 static, you need Swing news, or you need MT4/cTrader/DXtrade. Rapid 1-Step is not an FTMO alternative; it is a 6% trail.
Dubai / Scotland on the HQ line does not change the Shield math. $400 versus $540 does not either. The product is an 85% split with a software idea cap. If that sentence is attractive, Blue Guardian is coherent. If that sentence is a deal-breaker, stop reading reviews about the 4% Phase 2 and go back to Prague.
Outrun Shield with a tighter Guard, not a wider stop
If Shield fires at 1% to 2% float, your own flatten must sit inside that, not at 3.5% daily, or Shield will act first and still count a strike. In Venasri Equity Guard cap Blue Guardian combined float at 0.90% per symbol and daily at 3.25%, and flatten FTMO at 4.25% of Prague day-start. Do not copy FTMO scale-in lots onto the Guardian login.
Venasri's free prop firm risk guard will close the Blue Guardian book before Shield has to, which is the only way to use both firms without collecting strikes. Prefer Blue Guardian when 85% and a 4% Phase 2 are worth an idea cap. Prefer FTMO when you need to scale. Let the guard, not Shield, be the first flatten on the cheap book.
