Why the same 5% daily number is not the same rule
On a $100,000 FTMO 2-Step Challenge the daily loss allowance is $5,000 and the maximum loss floor is a static $10,000 from initial balance. FundingPips prints the same 5% / 10% headline on 2-Step Standard, yet it anchors daily loss to the higher of day-start balance or floating equity at 00:00 UTC+3. If you close Monday with $100,000 cash and $3,500 of open XAUUSD profit, FTMO's next-day 5% is still measured from the closed balance plus that floating PnL as it moves. FundingPips lifts the reference to $103,500, which means a $3,500 pullback that never went cash is already 70% of the new daily budget.
That is why swing traders who hold winners overnight treat these two firms as different products. FTMO Standard still forces you flat before the weekend and blocks new orders inside a 2-minute window around red-folder prints on funded accounts; FTMO Swing relaxes both, at 1:30 max leverage. FundingPips lets weekend holding on evaluation and selected funded models, then applies a 5-minute news window on the funded stage. If your edge is London-to-New-York continuation on gold, map the clock first, then the news window, then the fee.
Targets, days, and the $141 you actually pay
FTMO asks for 10% in Phase 1 and 5% in Phase 2 with four minimum trading days. FundingPips asks for 8% then 5% with three minimum days and charges $399 against FTMO's $540 on the same $100,000 size. The cheaper ticket is not automatically easier. An 8% Phase 1 still needs $8,000 of closed profit, and FundingPips Zero Instant plus On-Demand rewards add a 45% consistency score that FTMO never imposes on the standard 2-Step. FTMO's risk reviews flag extreme single-ticket gambling without a hard best-day formula, which is kinder to a trader who banks one clean 2.2% day and then grinds.
Payout design splits the audience again. FTMO pays 80% standard, scaling to 90%, on a bi-weekly cycle that starts 14 days after the first funded trade. FundingPips lets you pick Tuesday Payday at 60%, bi-weekly at 80%, On-Demand at 90% with consistency, or monthly at 100%. A funded scalper who can live with a 45% consistency score and wants cash every Tuesday will take Dubai. A swing trader who wants the ten-year payout record and a static 10% floor that does not trail will take Prague. Neither split matters if the 00:00 rule takes the account first.
Bots, hyperactivity, and who should not apply
Both firms sit on a 2,000 server-request hyperactivity ceiling. FTMO allows EAs on MT5, MT4, cTrader, and DXtrade with that cap. FundingPips allows third-party EAs as trade and risk managers on MT5, Match-Trader, cTrader, and TradeLocker, but full automated entry bots need proof you own the source. If you run a tick-trailing grid that modifies stops every few seconds, you will trip both desks. If you run a slow structure bot that places a handful of orders per session, both desks are usable, and the FundingPips ownership rule is the extra paperwork.
Skip FTMO Standard if you must hold through Friday close and CPI. Skip FundingPips if you regularly carry $2,000 to $4,000 of open profit into UTC+3 midnight and you refuse to flatten or hedge before the print. Skip both if you size 1.5% per idea on gold; six full stops consume the 5% daily budget on either book. The honest split: FTMO for Swing news/weekend traders who will pay $540 for a static 10% floor and a long payout history; FundingPips for fee-sensitive intraday traders who can flatten or tightly stop winners before 00:00 UTC+3 and want an 8% Phase 1 plus optional 100% monthly split.
Running both books under one Equity Guard
Traders who keep a live FTMO and a live FundingPips account fail when they copy the same overnight gold ticket onto both books. Prague midnight and Dubai midnight are not the same instant, and FundingPips' higher-of-equity rule punishes the winner that FTMO merely remeasures. Connect both MT5 logins to one Venasri workspace and set independent flatten floors in Venasri Equity Guard: 4.25% of day-start for FTMO ($4,250 on $100,000) and 4.25% of the higher of balance or equity for FundingPips, with an extra pre-00:00 UTC+3 flatten if FundingPips floating profit exceeds $1,500.
Venasri's free prop firm risk guard watches both sockets every 3 seconds and closes every manual and bot position before either daily floor is touched. Manual Trade Guard still attaches a hard stop, breakeven buffer, and TP1 to TP4 partials on every click, so a mobile entry on one firm cannot sit naked while you manage the other. That is how you compare FTMO vs FundingPips in live money instead of in a spreadsheet: two rule engines, one circuit breaker, no shared overnight ticket that is legal on only one clock.
