$10 pip, 50 to 75 pip ATR, 5.00 lots only at 20 pips
One lot is 100,000 AUD. Pip value is $10.00. A 20-pip stop is $200 per lot. $1,000 / $200 = 5.00 lots. A 26-pip stop is 3.85 lots. An 8-pip scalp stop would allow 12.50 lots, which is legal only in a truly open 00:30 to 04:30 UTC book and still dies on RBA.
Typical spreads are 0.2 to 0.7 pips. Daily ATR is 50 to 75 pips. Intraday stops belong at 16 to 26 pips. Swing stops at 40 to 65 pips drop 1% size to 2.50 to 1.54 lots. If copper and gold disagree with the Aussie, skip the ticket rather than shrinking the stop to keep 5.00 lots.
RBA and China are why 2.50 lots is the default
A 5% floor is $5,000. Five 1% losers end the day. One RBA candle on 5.00 lots can do that job alone if it slips 40 pips twice (open and reverse). 2.50 lots at 20 pips is $500 clean, $1,000 if the fill is 40 pips away.
If you start free on Venasri, flatten into 03:30 UTC RBA and Australian CPI. Set Venasri Equity Guard to close AUDUSD near 3.5% so a PBoC headline cannot spend the last 1.5% while you sleep in New York.
Gold, copper, and NZDUSD are the same commodity-dollar book
AUDUSD sits with NZDUSD, XAUUSD, and copper. Long Aussie plus long gold plus long Kiwi is one China-and-dollar stack. If gold already uses 0.72 lots, the Aussie does not automatically get 2.50 lots on the same thesis.
Correlation Guard should cap that basket. 0.6650, 0.6700, and 0.6750 are where those stacked tickets find the same stop when China fades and the dollar bid arrives at 12:30 UTC.
Size from 0.6700 after you know which session is live
Measure the stop beyond the 00 or 50 figure plus 1.5× ATR. If that is 24 pips, 0.50% is 2.08 lots. Do not cut to 12 pips to keep 5.00 lots through a China headline.
Confirm 00:30 to 04:30 UTC or 12:30 to 16:00 UTC, spread under 0.7 pips, and metals agreement on the AI Pre-Trade Checklist. Aussie lots match EURUSD only when the stop and the clock match. RBA is not a euro clock.
