$1 per point with a 5 to 8 point spread tax
Many JPN225/JP225 CFDs are $1.00 per point per lot. Some are ¥100 or other specs; read MT5. At $1, 6.25 lots at 160 points is $1,000. Spread 5.0 to 8.0 points is brutal versus NAS100 0.8 to 1.8: a 6.25 lot round trip can pay $31 to $50 before the 160-point stop works.
ATR 450 to 850 points. Handles 38500, 39000, 40000 (500/1000). Tokyo 00:00 to 03:00 UTC is the product. US session 13:30 to 16:00 UTC is Nasdaq-follow, not a second full Tokyo.
Exporters, USDJPY, and overnight Nasdaq
Nikkei tracks USDJPY because exporters like a weak yen. It also tracks overnight NQ. You can be right on Japan and still get run over by a US tech dump at 00:30 UTC. BoJ meetings are the local gap risk, often larger in points than ECB is for DAX.
connect your MT5 account to Venasri and require USDJPY agreement plus a 160-point-class stop. A 60-point scalp is only for the first Tokyo impulse after the open sweep, and even then spread is 5 to 8 points of friction.
6.25 lots at 160 points
lots = 1000 / (stop × 1) at $1/point. At 160 points: 6.25 at 1%, 3.12 at 0.50%. Scalp 60 to 100, intraday 130 to 220, swing 350 to 600. Set $1 (or your yen spec) in the Half-Kelly Lot Size Calculator & Equity Guard.
If USDJPY or NAS100 is open, haircut Nikkei. Exporter beta plus Nasdaq beta is one risk-on book. 6.25 lots plus 7 Nasdaq lots plus 2.47 USDJPY lots is how Asia "diversification" becomes one 00:30 UTC candle.
Trade Tokyo 00:00 to 03:00 UTC, size for 160 points, respect BoJ
Let the TSE open sweep. Trade exporter/Nasdaq-aligned continuation toward 500-handles with 130 to 220 point stops, 3.12 lots. Skip 40-point NAS habits. Flatten into BoJ. Reduce into 13:30 UTC if Nasdaq will be the US ticket.
Confirm USDJPY direction, spread tax, unused Nasdaq budget, and BoJ calendar on the Pre-Trade AI Confluence Checklist. JPN225 is an Asia trend index with a wide spread. It is not a 14-lot Nasdaq at breakfast.
