ICE morning is Brent prime time; NYMEX is the second book
From 07:00 to 11:00 UTC, ICE London prints the first honest Brent trend of the day. That is the European energy session WTI does not give you. The second window is 13:00 to 17:00 UTC, when NYMEX overlap pulls Brent with WTI and EIA.
Asia can drift Brent on Middle East headlines. Those drifts are real more often than WTI Asia drifts, because Brent is the seaborne benchmark. Still, size Asia smaller. The 07:00 UTC ICE open will re-auction $74.00, $75.00, and $77.50.
Same barrel-math trap as WTI, slightly wider spread
Lot specs again split 100 versus 1,000 barrels. The 1.66 lot reference at a $0.60 stop for 1% of $100,000 matches the WTI standard-lot math. A 3.5 tick spread on Brent is heavier than a 3.0 tick WTI quote, so a $0.20 scalp is even worse here.
If you start free on Venasri, confirm the spec and default to 0.83 lots at 0.50%. Venasri Equity Guard should flatten if ICE morning already spent 3% and you are about to add into EIA.
OPEC, Red Sea, EIA: three Brent shocks that are not all on the FX calendar
OPEC+ ministerial statements can gap both crudes. Red Sea and Middle East shipping headlines often hit Brent first. Wednesday EIA at 14:30 UTC still matters because the WTI-Brent spread cannot diverge forever in a minute.
Black out EIA and known OPEC windows. If you already hold USOIL, UKOIL is 0.95 correlated. Correlation Guard should cap energy so two 0.50% oil tickets are not one 1.00% crude bet. Weekend OPEC gaps still debit Monday on many prop servers.
Brent session gates: ICE first, then the overlap
Trade 07:00 to 11:00 UTC for the European energy trend, or 13:30 to 17:00 UTC after any NYMEX sweep. Require spread under 4.5 ticks and a $0.45 to $0.75 stop beyond a $1.00 or $2.50 handle. Reject stacking a full WTI book on top.
Load those gates on the AI Pre-Trade Checklist. UKOIL pays the ICE morning. It bills traders who wait for NYMEX and then fade a completed European $1.20 trend.
