CAD quote conversion: $7.35 per pip, not $10
1.00 lot is 100,000 USD. A 0.0001 CAD pip is 10 CAD. Divide by USDCAD (near 1.36) and you get about $7.35. At 1.30 the pip is $7.69; at 1.40 it is $7.14. Locking $10 in a calculator overstates dollar risk per pip and undersizes the lot, which is the opposite of the USDJPY error and just as expensive.
Typical spread is 0.3 to 0.8 pips. Daily ATR 55 to 85 pips looks like EURUSD until 12:30 UTC dual releases. 00 and 50 figures (1.3500, 1.3550, 1.3600) are where the post-NFP inventory sits.
The 12:30 UTC double print and the 14:30 UTC oil print
US NFP and Canadian employment often timestamp together. Opposite surprises create 80-pip one-way candles. Thirty minutes of blackout is not optional on this pair; it is the difference between a 25-pip stop and a 70-pip fill. Bank of Canada days add a second landmine.
EIA crude inventories at 14:30 UTC shove USDCAD because Canada exports oil. USOIL up, Loonie stronger, USDCAD down, as a rule of thumb. connect your MT5 account to Venasri and treat Wednesday EIA as a red-folder event for this FX pair, not only for the oil chart.
5.44 lots at 25 pips using 7.35
lots = 1000 / (stop pips × 7.35). At 25 pips: 1000 / 183.75 = 5.44 lots for 1%. At 0.50% that is 2.72 lots. Scalp 10 to 15 pips, intraday 20 to 32, swing 50 to 80. If you still have $10 in the pip field, your 5.00 lot "euro clone" is mis-risked.
Set 7.35 in the Half-Kelly Lot Size Calculator & Equity Guard and recompute after a 300-pip USDCAD trend, because conversion drifts. If WTI is already on the book, cut Loonie so oil and CAD are not the same bet twice.
Trade the North American window, skip the double timestamp
Prime session is 12:30 to 16:30 UTC after the 12:30 prints have a closed M15. Fade-the-first-tick is how 5.44 lots become a daily-limit story. Spread under 0.8, H4 with oil/CAD logic.
Confirm oil direction, dual-calendar clear, and 00/50 figure location on the Pre-Trade AI Confluence Checklist. USDCAD is a North American pair. Asian ranging it with euro stops is unpaid work.
