What 0.80 to 1.45 lots costs in dollars
Treat 1.00 standard XAUUSD lot as about $10 per 0.10 move, which is $100 per $1.00 of price. A 50-pip stop is a $5 adverse move. At 0.80 lots that stop risks $400. At 1.45 lots it risks $725. Stretch the same band to 70 pips, a $7 move, and the risk is $560 at 0.80 lots and about $1,015 at 1.45 lots. Those are the planned losses, not the loss if the stop is missing.
The 4% daily line on $100K is $4,000. A single planned gold loss inside this band does not spend the day. It can spend the shield. Funded accounts flatten at 1% or 2% of open loss. At a 1% setting, the 1.45 lot and 70-pip combination is already through the cap. At a 2% setting, $2,000, the same ticket still fits, and a second overlapping gold idea may not.
COMEX reopen, news, and the midnight snapshot
The wick that hurts is usually the reopen, not a quiet London hour. If the stop is on the order, the loss stays near $400 to $1,015 and the $4,000 day survives. If the stop is a mental number, a $15 spike on 1.45 lots is about $2,175, and a move near $28 is enough to tag $4,000. Manual Trade Guard exists so the MT5 fill does not wait for you to type the stop after the spike.
Funded Blue Guardian accounts restrict a 5-minute window around red-folder news unless the news add-on is on. Weekend holding is allowed, so a Friday gold runner is a Sunday gap that counts toward the new day's 4%. The reset is 00:00 server time from the higher of balance or equity. Bot Control should partial a large winner before that print and pause entries through the funded news window.
A 0.50% gold ticket is 1.00 lot at 50 pips
Half a percent of $100K is $500. Divided by a 50-pip gold stop, that is 1.00 lot. Divided by a 70-pip stop, it is about 0.71 lots, under the 0.80 floor of the wide band. Use 1.00 lot when the structure is 50 pips, and step down toward 0.70 lots when the structure needs 70 pips. Both stay under a $1,000 shield. The 1.45 lot size is the top of the band for a shorter stop, or for a 2% shield, and it is a poor default.
Unlimited's static maximum is 8%, or $8,000. Elite's static maximum is 10%, or $10,000. Rapid trails 6%, or $6,000, with the same 4% day. Equity Guard at $3,250 covers the daily line on all three. The max-loss alarm has to match the program you bought, because a Rapid trail will move and an Elite floor will not.
One gold idea until the stop is proved
Phase 1 asks for 8%, or $8,000 on $100K. At $500 risk and a 2R outcome, a full winner is $1,000, so the target is eight clean winners if you never give a winner back. Real weeks need the 10 to 16 trade range because some winners are partials. There is no minimum day count, which means you can wait for the reopen to finish instead of forcing a Sunday fill.
Register a free Venasri account and store 1.00 lot as the $100K gold default, with 0.70 lots as the wide-stop alternative. EAs are allowed. An EA that grids a second gold lot under the first one is how a $560 idea becomes a $1,100 open loss and a shield strike. The 85% split is paid bi-weekly from 14 days after the first funded trade, on an account that still has its strike count at zero.
