The same $3,000 is collected on two different clocks
Both options list a 3% trail, $3,000 on $100,000. Option 1 updates it from intraday equity. A new high lifts the floor immediately, and an open loss can tag that floor before you close the trade. Option 2 updates from the end-of-day balance at the 4:59 PM CT session mark. A midday hole that is repaired by the mark does not have to ratchet the Option 2 trail. The position still has to be flat by 3:59 PM CT, an hour before that mark.
Option 2's hard day is $2,200. A $2,500 dip fails Option 2 even if price recovers and the trail is fine. Option 1 may have no second bucket with that name, which is why a trader can watch a daily meter that does not exist and miss the live trail. Know which contract you bought.
Four NQ contracts turn a 40-point dip into $3,200
E-mini Nasdaq is $20 a point. One contract through 40 points is $800, a pullback. Four contracts, the kind of size Option 1's larger allowance invites, are $3,200. That is already through the $3,000 trail while the chart still looks like a normal morning. Option 1 counts the unrealized dip. You do not get to wait for the stop to fill before the floor is scored.
Micro Nasdaq is $2 a point, so those same four contracts as micros are $320. The chart is the same and the trail is not in danger. Bot controls should cap Option 1 in micros unless the point distance is short enough that the dollars stay under about $500.
Option 1 does not hand you a larger book for staying green
The Option 1 design includes the intraday trail and leaves scaling off. A good week does not buy the next contract tier. Traders who pick Option 1 for size on day one are spending the allowance they will still have on day twenty. Option 2 keeps the end-of-day trail and the $2,200 day. Neither option turns the trail into a static line under $97,000 just because you had a green Tuesday.
Platforms are NinjaTrader, Tradovate, and Rithmic. The trail is per login. A second account that is green does not refill an Option 1 login that already touched $3,000 under its high.
Guard open equity on Option 1 and the day on Option 2
Equity Guard on Option 2 should flatten near $1,450 of daily loss, leaving $750 under $2,200, and it should also watch the $3,000 trail at the 4:59 PM CT mark. On Option 1 the flatten has to watch live equity under the session high. If you are up $1,500, a further $1,500 of giveback is halfway through the $3,000 trail. Waiting for a $2,200 daily number that Option 1 may not use is how the pullback wins.
Open a Venasri account and store Option 1 and Option 2 as different cards. The fee listed at $100,000 is $145. It is the same ballpark on both choices and it does not buy the right to ignore the clock you selected.
