3:59 PM CT is the position, and 4:59 PM CT is the mark
Be flat at 3:59 PM CT. Option 2 then has a 4:59 PM CT session reading for the end-of-day trail. If you are already out, that later mark records closed equity, which is what you want. If you believed the position deadline was 4:59 PM CT, you held for an extra hour. That hour includes the window where a lot of futures traders learned a 4:00 PM CT or 5:00 PM ET habit. Here 4:00 PM CT is one minute late.
The rule is daily, so Friday into the weekend is not a special case. It is the same flatten with more hours of reopen risk attached. Automation controls should fire on a Central Time clock. An Eastern Time alarm set for 5:00 PM ET is 4:00 PM CT, and that is already past 3:59.
An $800 gap spends more than a third of the Option 2 day
One NQ is $20 a point. Forty points is $800. Two contracts are $1,600, against a $2,200 Option 2 day. Micro Nasdaq is $2 a point, so the same gap is $80 on one MNQ. The gap is not a financing charge you can budget as a small carry. It is a fill, often worse than the stop you left behind, and Option 1 will treat the open loss as trail consumption the moment the book is live again.
A resting stop is not a substitute for the flatten. If the reopen skips through the stop, the skipped price is yours. The way to avoid that auction is to be flat at 3:59 PM CT, with no working order that reopens the risk.
Option 1 can be ended by the reopen even when the day looks quiet
Suppose Option 1 equity peaked at $101,500 during the cash session. The intraday floor, $3,000 under that high, sits near $98,500. You were supposed to be flat. If a leftover contract gaps the account from a $101,000 close toward $98,500, the trail can complete at the reopen, before you have had coffee. Option 2 may instead charge the gap against the new day's $2,200 limit, which a two-contract gap of $1,600 almost finishes.
Neither outcome is a swing strategy. Bulenox did not offer an overnight add-on in these rules. Master or evaluation, the 3:59 PM CT flatten is the same sentence.
Pair the Central Time flatten with a cash stop
Equity Guard should flatten Option 2 near $1,450 during the session, and it should flatten both options because the clock hit 3:59 PM CT, including when the position is green. A green hold is how today's winner becomes tomorrow's $800 gap. On Option 1, add a giveback limit from the session high so you are not relying on the close to save an open trail.
Register with Venasri and label the alarm Central Time. A phone set an hour later will feel almost right and will be exactly wrong. The minute you need is 3:59, not 4:59.
