There is no red-folder blackout to hide behind
Darwinex Zero publishes zero news restrictions. You may open or hold through CPI, NFP, and FOMC. That is unusual next to funded desks that block two minutes on either side of a red-folder release. Use the freedom on purpose. A habit copied from a banned firm, where you flatten every print, is allowed here and sometimes wise. A habit of adding size because the firm forgot to forbid it is how the $3,250 reference disappears in one candle.
The engine is a continuous 24/5 VaR process, not a midnight referee that voids the spike. Equity at the moment of the slip is equity the score can see. Sign up on Venasri if you want a voluntary pause even when the firm leaves the window open.
Gold turns a legal hold into a large debit
One standard lot of XAUUSD pays $10 per 0.10 move, which is $100 per $1.00. At 1.20 lots a pip is $12. Forty pips of slip beyond the planned stop is $480. That is roughly one 0.50% unit on $100,000, spent as friction rather than as a thesis. At 2.00 lots the same 40 pips are $800. Three news slips of that larger size are $2,400, and the day's reference is $3,250.
The monthly VaR target is 6.5%, or $6,500. A single violent CPI, if you are 2.00 lots with a stop that becomes a 150-pip fill, is 2.00 times 150 times $10, or $3,000. One number can take half the month. Bot controls should cut gold size before a scheduled print or stand aside.
CPI, NFP, and FOMC are the prints that reprice the day
Those three releases are where gold and the US indices gap through resting stops. Darwinex will still copy a strategy that trades them, because there is no ban. Investors then see the variance. A strategy whose best and worst days are both news spikes tends to look unstable on Risk Stability even when the average profit is positive.
If the edge is the print, size it as a planned $500 idea and accept that slippage may make it $700. If the edge is the hour after the print, wait until the spread returns. The 15% performance fee above the high-water mark is calculated on investor profit, and a news loss on the copied book is a real subtraction from that quarter.
A voluntary flatten is still available
Equity Guard does not know the economic calendar by itself unless you arm the pause. Set the loss flatten at $2,500 on a $100,000 reference so a slipped stop cannot walk from a planned $500 loss to the full $3,250 reference in one repricing. That is a Venasri choice. It is not a Darwinex rule.
Swing profiles may hold the weekend, and a Friday news position becomes a Sunday gap plus the print. Intraday profiles can be flat before the number without breaking a rule, because the firm never required you to trade it. The absence of a blackout is room. It is not a suggestion to be the liquidity.
