A 50 to 70 pip stop is the plan, and the lot has to match it
At 0.80 lots, a 50-pip stop is $400. At 1.00 lot, a 50-pip stop is $500, a clean 0.50% on $100,000. At 1.45 lots, a 70-pip stop is 1.45 times 70 times $10, or $1,015. Two losses at that top size are $2,030. A third is $3,045, and the day's reference is $3,250. The wide end of the band is a two-loss morning, not a seven-loss morning.
If you want seven full stops inside $3,250, the unit is about $460, which is roughly 0.92 lots on a 50-pip stop or 0.66 lots on a 70-pip stop. The 1.45 lot quote is a maximum for a planned structural stop that you expect to honor once, not a default size for every London idea. Bot controls should compute the dollar risk from the pip distance before they send gold.
A $35 adverse range on 1.00 lot is already $3,500
Gold's typical day runs about $28 to $45. A $35 move is 350 pips. At 1.00 lot that is $3,500, which is already through the $3,250 reference if you are caught on the wrong side and the stop does not fill. At 0.92 lots the same full range is about $3,220, essentially the entire day in one swing. You cannot also take a second idea.
The structural stop exists so you do not wear the whole range. A stop that is missing, or a stop that gaps through during the COMEX open around 12:20 to 13:30 UTC, gives the range back its full dollar value. London's 07:00 to 08:30 UTC sweep is the other window where a tight stop becomes a market fill. Open a Venasri account and treat those two windows as size decisions, not as background noise.
Investors see the gold lot, not the story you meant
Darwinex Zero copies a risk shape. A week of 0.40 lot gold and a news day of 1.45 lots can stay under $3,250 and still damage Risk Stability and Capacity. The account is built to remain open. The seed weight is what falls. The 15% performance fee is charged on investor profit above the high-water mark, so a smaller seed is a smaller fee even when your own screenshot looks clever.
News is allowed. A CPI slip of 40 pips on 1.45 lots is 1.45 times 40 times $10, or $580 of extra travel beyond the level you wanted. Add that to a $1,015 planned stop and one print can approach half the day. If the thesis is not the print, be smaller or be flat.
Flatten the metal book near $2,500
Equity Guard at $2,500 on $100,000 ends the session before a second 1.45 lot failure, or before a gap-through turns one 1.00 lot idea into the whole reference. The monthly VaR target the engine normalizes toward is 6.5%, or $6,500. One gold day at the full $3,250 reference spends half of it.
Attach the stop with the entry. A naked 1.00 lot is $100 per $1.00 until you type the protection. Partial exits reduce a known lot. They do not repair a 1.45 lot position whose stop was never a 70-pip idea in the first place. The D-Score remembers the spike even when you close it quickly.
