0.80 lots can be $400 and 1.45 lots can be $1,015
One standard lot of XAUUSD pays $10 per 0.10 of price. A 50-pip stop at 0.80 lots is $400. A 50-pip stop at 1.45 lots is $725. Stretch that same 1.45 lots to 70 pips and the risk is 1.45 times 70 times $10, or $1,015. On a $100,000 Classic account the day is $5,000, so $1,015 is a fifth of the day in one ticket. Two of those, if they are both gold and both lose, are $2,030 before lunch.
The everyday band that survives seven mistakes is $350 to $650, not $1,015. Use 1.45 lots only when the stop is short enough to land in that band, or cut the lot until it does. A 60-pip stop wants about 0.83 lots for a $500 unit. Bot controls should multiply lot by stop distance and reject the order when the product is above the cap you wrote down while flat.
A $35 range is the day if the stop is missing
A $35 gold swing is 350 pips at $0.10 each. At 1.45 lots that is 1.45 times 350 times $10, or about $5,075, which is the entire Classic day on $100,000. The structural stop of 50 to 70 pips is what stops you wearing the whole range. A COMEX open wick that runs through the stop is the failure mode, not a quiet drift. If the stop is not on the server, the range is the stop.
Funded tickets must have that stop anyway. One Phase makes the same lot more dangerous because the day is $4,000, not $5,000, and the maximum is a 6% end-of-day trail that opens near $94,000. A $1,015 idea is a quarter of the One Phase day. Open a Venasri account and store Classic gold and One Phase gold as different lot caps, not as one favorite size.
The open, the news window, and the Sunday gap
The violent part of gold is the liquidity sweep into the London and COMEX hours, and the US data window later. Funded accounts are restricted in a 2-minute band around high-impact news. A stop that slips through CPI still debits the $5,000. Do not send a trail of modifications through the print. The request cap is 2,000 a day, and gold is where tick-by-tick trailing burns it.
Weekend holding is the Swing variant only. A 100-pip Sunday gap at 1.20 lots is $1,200. That is legal risk only if the contract allows the hold and you sized it on purpose. The day rolls at 00:00, UTC+2 or UTC+3, and floating equity joins the next reference. Partial a large gold winner before that snapshot unless the Swing plan includes the overnight float.
Flatten the book before a wick finishes the day
Equity Guard on Classic $100,000 should flatten near $4,250, leaving $750 before the official $5,000. That pocket is exactly for a gold fill that is worse than the 70-pip plan. On One Phase flatten near $3,250. If you are already $2,500 down and still holding 1.45 lots into the COMEX open, the guard should have spoken earlier. Lower the session cap on days when the calendar is heavy.
Phase 1 is $10,000 and Phase 2 is $8,000. A single $2,000 gold day feels like progress and can also become the best day that troubles a 45% Fast Track or payout score. Forty-five percent of $10,000 is $4,500. You do not need a breach to fail the shape of the profit. Keep the lot honest, keep the stop on the ticket, and let a green gold day stay a fraction of the target.
