Friday afternoon is a hard flat, not a preference
Positions must be out before the Friday afternoon CME close. That covers NQ, ES, YM, GC, and the micros. A working bracket left over the weekend is the breach even if Sunday opens unchanged. If Sunday opens 150 NQ points against you, one e-mini is $3,000 at $20 per point and the $100,000 trail is done. One micro through the same 150 points is $300, which is painful and survivable.
Intraday overnight holds into a weekday session are a different conversation from the weekend, and they still face the end-of-day trail at the session mark. Sign up on Venasri with a Friday flat alarm that does not depend on you remembering the contract month.
Do not import an FX weekend plan onto this book
CFD gold accounts worry about triple swap and a midnight equity anchor. This book worries about the CME close and the end-of-day trail. A trader who holds GC because an FX firm allowed XAUUSD over the weekend is holding the wrong product under the wrong rule. Full COMEX gold is $100 per $1. A $20 Sunday gap on one GC is $2,000, most of a $3,000 trail, from a position that should not have existed.
Micro gold is $10 per $1. The same $20 gap is $200. If you want overnight exposure on a weekday, the micro is the adult choice. It is still flat on Friday. Bot controls should force a flatten into the Friday deadline rather than trusting a chart reminder.
A gap you are not in cannot become the 40% day
Starter needs five winning days and a 40% consistency test. A Sunday gap cannot help that test if you are flat, which is the point. Traders who break the flat rule and catch a favorable gap can create the oversized day Starter then rejects. The red gap ends the trail. The green gap can stall the payout. Both are reasons to be out.
Expert has no best-day cap and still has the trail. A favorable illegal gap does not become a clever pass. The account review sees the position that was open when the market was closed.
The flatten has to be live before you leave the screen
Equity Guard on $100,000 belongs near $2,250 during the sessions you do trade, and the Friday job is simpler: zero contracts before the close. A guard that only watches dollars will not save you if the rule is positional. Flat means no working entry and no leftover target order that can fill on the reopen.
The trail width on $50,000 is about $1,500 to $2,000, so one NQ through a smaller gap is enough. On $150,000 the trail is $4,500, and two NQ through 150 points is $6,000, through that wider trail as well. Contract count, not optimism, is the weekend plan. The plan is zero.
