The 0.31R gold chase that looks like a breakout
When XAUUSD has already expanded $28, 100% of its average session ATR, away from the H1 EMA50, a structural stop behind the impulse is often 95 pips. Remaining room into exhaustion is often under 30 pips. Reward-to-risk inverts to about 0.31R. You are buying the top of a liquidity sweep that institutions fade, then paying a full -1R when it mean-reverts.
Engine gates, then socket protection

Wait for the 0.8x ATR ribbon, not the next green bar
If you missed the impulse, the next valid location is a pullback into EMA50 or an unmitigated order block, not a market order at the high. Mark the 0.8x ATR band. If price is outside it, there is no long. RSI above 75 is a second veto. News blackout is a third: chasing a CPI wick is a different page, and it is worse.
