Four percent daily is a different sport than five
On $100,000, Maven's 4% daily is $4,000 and the 8% static maximum is $8,000. FTMO's 5% / 10% is $5,000 / $10,000. Maven also measures daily loss from the higher of day-start balance or floating equity at 00:00 server time, so overnight winners lift the next floor. FTMO measures from day-start balance plus floating PnL at 00:00 CE(S)T and keeps a static 10% maximum on the 2-Step. Maven 1-Step trails a 5% maximum; Maven Instant trails 3%. If you came from FTMO and bought Maven Instant because the fee is tiny, you bought a different drawdown species.
Targets look familiar until the calendar disappears. Maven wants 8% then 5% with zero minimum days. You can theoretically pass both phases in two sessions. You can also theoretically fail the 8% static cap on session one with a 1.2% gold stop that you repeated seven times because there was no day-count forcing you to slow down. FTMO's four-day minimum is annoying. It is also a speed bump Maven removed on purpose.
The funded 1.5% idea cap FTMO does not copy
Maven funded accounts enforce a 1% to 2% maximum floating drawdown per trade idea, even when the 4% daily is untouched. Stacking three EURUSD tickets that together float -$1,800 on $100,000 is a rules event, not a "still inside daily" event. FTMO does not publish that per-idea float cap. It relies on the 5% daily, the 10% static max, and risk reviews for gambling. Traders who scale into a level will pass FTMO and fail Maven on the same tape.
News on Maven funded accounts sits in a 2-minute to 5-minute window around red-folder events. FTMO Standard uses two minutes and a weekend flatten; Swing removes both. Maven allows weekend holding on 1-Step, 2-Step, and 3-Step evaluations. Payouts are every 10 business days at an 80% split. FTMO is bi-weekly from day 14 at 80% scaling to 90%. Maven is not trying to beat FTMO on heritage. It is trying to beat FTMO on price ($379 vs $540) and on the absence of a day-count.
Who the $379 ticket is for, and who it is not
Pick Maven if you want a cheap retry, you already risk 0.35% to 0.50% per idea, you can pass without needing four calendar days, and you will respect a 1.5% combined float cap once funded. Pick FTMO if you need $5,000 of daily air, a $10,000 static floor, Swing news and weekend rights, or a desk that will not flatten your scale-in because three tickets share a thesis. Martingale, grid recovery, and latency bots are banned at Maven; personal non-HFT EAs and trade managers are allowed. FTMO allows EAs on all platforms under the 2,000-request cap.
Do not pick Maven Instant because the word instant sounds like FTMO with less homework. Trailing 3% maximum on instant capital is closer to a futures end-of-day trail than to FTMO 2-Step. Do not pick FTMO if burning $540 per fail is the reason you stopped applying. The honest sentence: Maven is a priced retry with tighter air; FTMO is wider air with a Swing variant Maven does not replicate.
Sizing 0.40% on Maven and 0.55% on FTMO from one screen
If you run both, the shared gold bot that risks 0.70% will starve Maven's daily budget in six stops and still look conservative on FTMO. In Venasri Equity Guard flatten Maven at 3.25% ($3,250) and cap combined float per symbol at 1.4% so the funded idea rule never fires. Flatten FTMO at 4.25%. Disable copy-sizing across the two logins so lot math cannot stay in lockstep.
Venasri's free prop firm risk guard watches both accounts every 3 seconds. Manual Trade Guard attaches the stop Maven's funded book is waiting to catch you without, and the same attach covers FTMO mobile. Prefer Maven when the fee and zero-day pass are the brief. Prefer FTMO when the extra $1,000 of daily room and Swing holding are the brief. Let the guard keep the cheap book from inheriting the wide book's size.
