The premier Asia trend pair, then the US risk open
Sydney-Tokyo from 00:00 to 05:00 UTC is why this pair exists on an Asia desk. Carry, China, and local rates print while EURUSD coils. The second window is 13:30 to 16:00 UTC, when US equity risk reprices every yen-cross beta.
London can continue an Asian trend, but fading a completed 00:30 to 04:00 UTC breakout at 07:00 UTC is a common loss. If Asia already spent 70 pips of a 75 to 125 pip ATR, stand down or wait for the US equity open to write a new story.
Carry plus $6.70 pips, not a $10 major
Pip value is about $6.70. A 0.8 pip spread is $5.36. Intraday stops belong at 25 to 42 pips. Scalps at 12 to 20 pips need the Sydney-Tokyo overlap, not a London fade. Swing stops at 65 to 105 pips are a large slice of ATR.
If you start free on Venasri, 4.95 lots at a 30-pip stop is 1% of $100,000. Evaluation default is 2.47 lots. Venasri Equity Guard should flatten when NAS100 and AUDJPY both go red, because that is one risk-off ticket in two wrappers.
RBA, BoJ, and the equity dump that is not on the FX calendar
RBA at 03:30 UTC sits inside the Asia prime window. BoJ meetings reprice the yen half. Neither is optional. The third shock is an S&P or Nasdaq dump that never appears as a red FX folder and still travels 80 pips through AUDJPY.
Black out RBA and BoJ. If you already hold AUDUSD or NAS100, you may already own the risk-on half. Correlation Guard should cap the stack. 00 and 50 yen handles (98.50, 99.00, 100.00) are where those dumps find stops.
AUDJPY session gates for carry days versus crash days
Trade 00:00 to 05:00 UTC for carry trends, or 13:30 to 16:00 UTC if US equities are the driver. Require spread under 1.2 pips, equity tape not fighting you, and a stop beyond the yen handle plus 1.5× ATR. Reject policy days and reject fading a completed Asian expansion.
Park those gates on the AI Pre-Trade Checklist. AUDJPY pays the Asia breakout that still has room in the ATR. It bills the London fade of a finished carry move.
