Two violent handoffs: Tokyo into London, London into New York
From 06:00 to 09:30 UTC, Tokyo hands Cable-yen to London. UK 06:00 data and the same Judas habit that GBPUSD shows can print 50 pips before Frankfurt coffee is gone. The second window is 12:00 to 15:30 UTC, when New York risk sentiment and US data hitch a ride on the yen cross.
Outside those windows the pair still moves, but the 0.8 to 1.8 pip spread plus thinner depth makes 18 to 30 pip scalp stops a tax. If global equities dump, GBPJPY often dumps with NAS100 because it is a risk-on beta cross, not a quiet yen pair.
Why a 10-pip stop is not tight risk management here
If you start free on Venasri, use 38 to 65 pips for intraday and 95 to 160 pips for swing. At 1% of $100,000 a 45-pip stop is 3.31 lots. Evaluation default is 1.65 lots. Venasri Equity Guard should flatten if one Dragon candle already spent 3% of a 5% day.
BoJ plus UK CPI is two central banks in one ticket
GBPJPY sits on both UK inflation and Japanese yield policy. A BoJ surprise and a UK CPI miss on the same week can each deliver 80 to 150 pips. Equity flash crashes add a third shock because the pair trades like a risk barometer.
Black out BoJ, UK 06:00 inflation, and US NFP. If you already hold GBPUSD or EURJPY, you may already own half of this bet. Correlation Guard should haircut the Dragon so the yen-cross basket is one risk line, not three.
Dragon session gates at 00 and 50 yen
Trade 06:00 to 09:30 UTC after any London Judas, or 12:00 to 15:30 UTC with H4 agreement. Require spread under 1.8 pips, a stop beyond 194.00, 195.00, or 196.00 plus 1.5× M15 ATR, and no red-folder UK, US, or BoJ stamp inside 30 minutes.
Put those rules on the AI Pre-Trade Checklist. GBPJPY pays the wide, planned stop. It bills the trader who brings a 10-pip EURUSD habit into a 200-pip pair.
