NYSE open is the Dow session; Asia is a ghost tape
US30 CFDs print overnight, but the book that respects Volume Profile POC and 0.618 ZigZag levels is 13:30 to 16:00 UTC (9:30 AM to 12:00 PM ET). After 16:00 UTC the cash tape thins. After 20:00 UTC you are in a futures after-hours market that does not owe you a 40-point scalp.
The first 15 minutes at 9:30 ET are an opening range, not a trend. Wait until 9:45 ET for the POC to settle. The Dow often respects that profile cleanly once the opening imbalance is done, which is why a 80 to 140 point intraday stop is the adult distance on this index.
Price-weighted gaps and a $1 CFD point
On a standard prop CFD, 1.00 lot is often $1 per Dow point. A 2.0 point spread is $2.00 per lot. CME YM is $5 per point and MYM is $0.50, so the same "10 lots" means three different dollar risks. Typical spread 1.2 to 2.5 points will eat a 40-point scalp and barely dent a 100-point structural stop.
If you start free on Venasri, confirm the dollar-per-point before the open. At 1% of $100,000 a 100-point stop is 10.00 CFD lots. Evaluation default is 5.00. Venasri Equity Guard should flatten near 3.5% because a single component gap can run 200 points before you can click.
Component earnings are Dow news, not just US data
UNH, GS, MSFT, and CAT can each swing the price-weighted index hard in pre-market. That is a danger window even when the economic calendar is blank. Add 12:30 UTC PPI, CPI, and NFP, and the futures book reprices an hour before NYSE.
Black out 30 minutes around those US prints. If a Dow component already gapped 4% overnight, treat 13:30 UTC as a range-building open, not a breakout. Stacking US30 on top of a full NAS100 book is the same US-equity beta twice.
US30 session gates around 250 and 500 handles
Trade 13:30 to 16:00 UTC after the opening range. Require spread under 2.5 points, a stop beyond 42000, 42500, or 43000 plus the opening range, and no red-folder US data inside 30 minutes. Reject the 9:30:00 ET market order.
Tick those gates on the AI Pre-Trade Checklist. The Dow pays when you let the 9:30 to 9:45 ET auction finish. It bills traders who scalp a 320 to 600 point index with a 40-point stop at the bell.
