RTH is the S&P session; overnight is a dealer parking lot
US500 belongs in New York regular trading hours, 13:30 to 20:00 UTC. That is when cash, futures, and 0DTE options share one book. Overnight ES can drift 10 to 20 points on thin volume. Those drifts look like trends until 9:30 ET fades them.
Inside RTH the index spends long stretches glued to 25-point and 50-point handles (5800, 5850, 5900) because dealers hedge gamma there. Breaks through a High Volume Node often travel to the next Low Volume Node quickly. That is the 14 to 24 point intraday stop environment, not a 6-point scalp into the pin.
Tight spreads, tiny ATR, huge lot temptation
A 0.3 to 0.6 point spread on a $1 CFD point is $0.30 to $0.60 per lot. Daily ATR is only 45 to 85 points, so traders crank size. At 1% of $100,000 an 18-point stop is 55.55 CFD lots, or about 11 MES ($5 per point). Copying 55 lots onto E-mini ES ($50 per point) is a fifty-times error.
If you start free on Venasri, lock the spec. Evaluation default is half of 55.55, nearer 27 CFD lots or 5 to 6 MES. Venasri Equity Guard should flatten near 3.5% because an FOMC 18:00 UTC candle can run 40 points with no bid.
FOMC at 18:00 UTC and the 15:50 ET MOC trap
FOMC statements at 18:00 UTC land during cash hours. The S&P can travel its entire daily ATR in the first minute, then reverse the whole move in the press conference. 0DTE gamma makes those reversals faster than they were a decade ago.
The 15:50 ET MOC imbalance (19:50 UTC) is a second trap. Market-on-close orders can shove the index 8 to 15 points into the cash close. A 6 to 12 point scalp stop sitting on a 50-point strike into MOC is designed to fill at the worst print.
US500 session gates at dealer walls
Trade 13:30 to 19:30 UTC after the opening range, away from 18:00 UTC FOMC and 19:50 UTC MOC. Require spread under 0.6 points, a stop beyond the nearest 25-point or 50-point wall plus 1.5× ATR, and no stacked NAS100 ticket using the same 0.50% budget.
Load those gates on the AI Pre-Trade Checklist. The S&P pays at the wall after the auction. It bills traders who see a 0.3 point spread and decide 55 lots is conservative.
