Zurich morning is the franc session
Swiss and London desks from 06:30 to 10:30 UTC set USDCHF. That is when European real-money flow and the SNB watchers are awake. New York from 12:30 to 15:30 UTC is the second window, because the dollar side still needs US data. After 16:00 UTC the pair often inherits EURUSD fixing noise without EURUSD depth.
Asia is quiet unless a geopolitical shock bids the franc overnight. A 50 to 75 pip ATR does not need a 24-hour hunt. Mark 0.8750, 0.8800, and 0.8850 in Tokyo, then trade them in Zurich if H4 agrees.
The $11.40 pip and the EURUSD clone error
One lot is 100,000 USD. Quote is CHF, so pip value sits near $11.40, not $10.00. A 0.6 pip spread is already $6.84 per lot. A 20-pip stop at 1% of $100,000 is 4.38 lots (1000 / (20 × 11.40)). Copying a 5.00 EURUSD lot onto USDCHF oversizes by the pip-value gap and by the correlation.
If you start free on Venasri, treat USDCHF and EURUSD as one USD basket. Venasri Equity Guard should block the second ticket when the first already occupies that dollar view, or split one 0.50% budget across both.
SNB days and the safe-haven vacuum
Swiss National Bank quarterly assessments can reprice CHF as violently as a mini-2015 event, even when the move is smaller than the floor shock. Geopolitical risk-off bids for the franc can travel 40 to 70 pips while EURUSD is still digesting the same headline from the euro side.
Black out SNB decision windows. If you already hold EURUSD, skip USDCHF that day. A "hedge" that is actually the same dollar short twice is how a 5% daily limit disappears on a pair people call quiet.
Swissy session gates at parity handles
Trade 06:30 to 10:30 UTC or 12:30 to 15:30 UTC. Require spread under 0.9 pips, no open EURUSD ticket in the same dollar direction, and a stop beyond the 00 or 50 handle. Reject SNB days and reject Asia entries unless a genuine safe-haven shock has already printed a closed structure.
Load those gates on the AI Pre-Trade Checklist. USDCHF pays as a single dollar expression. It bills traders who stack it on EURUSD and call the stack diversification.
