A $11.40 pip on 100,000 USD quoted in francs
1.00 lot is 100,000 USD. A 0.0001 CHF pip is 10 CHF. Divide by USDCHF (near 0.88) and you get about $11.40. Below parity the pip is heavier than a euro pip; that is the opposite of CAD and JPY conversion. 4.38 lots at 20 pips is 1% because each pip costs more, not because Swissy is "safer."
Spread 0.3 to 0.9 pips, ATR 50 to 75 pips, figures at 0.8750 / 0.8800 / 0.8850. Zurich/London 06:30 to 10:30 UTC and NY 12:30 to 15:30 UTC are the books that can support an 8 to 14 pip scalp stop.
The mirror trade and the SNB headline
If EURUSD rips 40 pips, USDCHF usually dumps a similar fraction. Running both tickets is double USD risk with two spreads. Geopolitical safe-haven bids can break the mirror for a morning, which is when the "hedge" becomes two losers.
SNB quarterly policy assessments are the scheduled gap risk. connect your MT5 account to Venasri and flatten Swissy into those stamps. Unscheduled verbal intervention still happens; size as if a 40-pip hole is possible.
4.38 lots at 20 pips, and never plus a full euro ticket
lots = 1000 / (stop pips × 11.40). At 20 pips: 1000 / 228 = 4.39, matching 4.38 lots. At 0.50% that is 2.19 lots. Scalp 8 to 14, intraday 18 to 28, swing 45 to 70. Put 11.40 in the Half-Kelly Lot Size Calculator & Equity Guard or you will think 5.00 lots is 1% when it is closer to 1.14%.
If EURUSD is already 2.50 lots, USDCHF size is zero or both are halved. Correlation Guard is named for this pair.
Trade Zurich hours, skip the euro clone
Prime: Zurich/London morning at parity handles, H4 aligned, spread under 0.9, no SNB. Do not open Swissy solely because euro "needs a hedge."
Tick euro-correlation, SNB calendar, and $11.40 pip on the Pre-Trade AI Confluence Checklist. USDCHF is a conversion-and-correlation problem first. Direction is second.
