Recalculate every ticket at $6.70, not $10
One lot is 100,000 USD. Pip value ≈ $6.70 (it drifts with USDJPY). A 30-pip stop is 30 × 6.70 = $201. $1,000 / $201 ≈ 4.98, rounded to the 4.95 reference. A 45-pip stop is about 3.30 lots at 1%. If you still use × 10 in the formula, you under-size, which is safer, but most traders do the opposite and copy 5.00 EURUSD lots.
Typical spreads are 0.2 to 0.7 pips. Daily ATR is 90 to 155 pips. Intraday stops belong at 28 to 45 pips. A 12-pip scalp stop on 8 lots is inside a Tokyo wick and inside the 00:55 UTC Gotobi fix.
Intervention math is why 0.50% is the default
A 5% daily limit is $5,000. At $6.70 per pip, 746 pips on 1.00 lot ends the day. That sounds huge until a BoJ spike prints 180 pips on 4.95 lots: 4.95 × 180 × 6.70 ≈ $5,970. The breach is mechanical. 2.47 lots at 30 pips is $500 if filled cleanly, and about $2,980 if the same 180-pip spike hits, which still leaves a sliver of the daily floor only if you flatten fast.
If you start free on Venasri, treat BoJ and MoF headlines as flatten events. Venasri Equity Guard should close USDJPY when floating loss hits about 3.0%, because the next 80 pips of an intervention do not wait for your click.
Gold plus USDJPY is one yield ticket
USDJPY tracks US 10-year yields. Gold tracks real yields inversely. Long gold and short USDJPY are often the same dollar-and-yield view. If gold already uses 0.72 lots, do not add 2.47 lots of USDJPY as "diversification."
EURJPY and GBPJPY share the yen half. Correlation Guard should cap the yen basket so 4.95 lots of USDJPY are not sitting under two more yen crosses at full size.
Size from 150.00, then check Tokyo and Treasury clocks
Measure the stop beyond 149.50, 150.00, or 150.50 plus 1.5× ATR. If that is 38 pips, 0.50% is 500 / (38 × 6.70) ≈ 1.96 lots. Feed the live pip value into the formula, because $6.70 is an approximation that moves with the pair.
Confirm Tokyo 00:00 to 03:00 UTC or US Treasury 12:30 to 16:00 UTC, spread under 0.7 pips, and no Gotobi, BoJ, or US red folder on the AI Pre-Trade Checklist. USDJPY lots look close to EURUSD. The $6.70 pip and the intervention tail are why they are not the same trade.
