NYMEX open is the WTI session; Asia is a parking lot
From 13:00 to 18:30 UTC the NYMEX book is live. That window holds most of the $1.60 to $2.90 ATR. The first 30 minutes often raid yesterday high or low. The clean trend usually waits until 13:30 UTC. After 18:30 UTC you are in a thinner evening book.
Asia and early London can drift crude $0.40 on inventory rumors. Those drifts look like setups until 13:00 UTC fades them. Map $70.00, $72.50, and $75.00 overnight. Trade them after the NYMEX sweep, not into it.
100 barrels versus 1,000 barrels is a ten-times error
A common prop CFD lot is 100 barrels, $10 per $0.10 (and $10 per 0.01 pip on many MT5 symbols). A standard CL-style lot is 1,000 barrels. The 1.66 lot reference at a $0.60 stop for 1% of $100,000 assumes the 1,000-barrel math, or 16.6 lots on a 100-barrel CFD. Mixing those specs is how oil accounts die.
If you start free on Venasri, read the MT5 specification before Tuesday close. Evaluation default is half: about 0.83 standard lots or 8.3 CFD lots at $0.60. Venasri Equity Guard should flatten into EIA if floating oil loss is already 2%.
Wednesday 14:30 UTC EIA and the OPEC Sunday gap
EIA crude inventories at 14:30 UTC (10:30 AM ET) on Wednesdays can travel $0.80 to $1.50 in a minute. That is half an ATR on a scheduled print inside the best session. OPEC+ headlines often land on weekends and gap Sunday WTI $1.00 to $3.00.
Black out 30 minutes around EIA. If weekend holding is banned, flatten Friday. If allowed, cut size 50%. USDCAD often mirrors this ticket. Correlation Guard should cap oil plus Loonie so one crude view is not two daily-limit lines.
WTI session gates after the 13:00 UTC sweep
Trade 13:30 to 16:30 UTC after the prior-day raid. Require spread under 4 ticks, a $0.45 to $0.80 intraday stop beyond a $1.00 or $2.50 handle, and no EIA window. Reject 13:00:00 UTC market orders and reject fading EIA with a $0.20 scalp stop.
Tick those gates on the AI Pre-Trade Checklist. USOIL pays the post-sweep NYMEX trend. It bills traders who click the pit open or the EIA stamp.
