Apex Trader Funding Daily Drawdown Rules: Exact 4:59 PM ET market close (must be flat before close) Rollover Math & Protection

Direct Technical Answer

Apex Trader Funding daily drawdown rules on a $100K evaluation use a $3,000 (3%) intraday trailing threshold against a $6,000 (6%) profit target, with about 2.5% daily risk character and a 30% payout cap. The trail follows peak floating equity in real time, and all futures must be closed by 4:59 PM ET.

On Apex you do not have a $3,000 daily hole sitting still until New York close. You have a $3,000 hole that shrinks every time NQ makes a new high in your favor. The calculator is remaining air equals threshold minus (peak equity minus current equity), not threshold minus closed loss.

Remaining air, not brochure $3,000

Start $100K, threshold $3,000, peak unrealized +$0, current +$0, air $3,000. Peak +$2,200, current +$2,200, air still $3,000 under that peak (floor moved to $99,200 in simple trail logic). Current then +$100, air is $3,000 - $2,100 giveback = $900. Closed PnL +$100. Brochure readers think they have $2,900 of daily left. They have $900. Write remaining air on the DOM, not closed PnL.

PA lock near initial +$100 means once you have grown the account, the floor sits just above start and further highs do not hand you a thicker cushion below start. Payouts then happen above that lock. Seven days and 30% consistency still apply on the way.

Worked giveback: close the spike or shrink size

If NQ gives you +$2,200 and your remaining air would be $800 after a normal 15-point pullback, bank $1,400 to $1,800 of the spike. You will not get Topstep's EOD kindness. 6% target is $6,000, so banking $1,800 is 30% of the target in one day, which is also the payout consistency ceiling. That is the Apex bind: tick trail wants you to bank spikes, 30% consistency wants you not to bank the whole exam in one spike. Partial, leave runner tiny, live for day two.

5:1 stop-to-target: a $400 stop cannot aim $3,000. Max target $2,000. That kills the "let it run because trail already moved" story. Trail moved against your remaining air, not in favor of a moonshot. You can start a free Venasri account and log Apex peak-versus-close for a week. The gap is the product.

4:59 PM ET and the 30% PA loser rule

Flat before 4:59 PM ET, not 5:01. A trailing threshold that has crawled all day can be finished by close slippage if you are still in ES. PA 30% max negative PnL per trade means a -$1,200 loser on a day that is only -$2,000 total is 60% of that day's red and can be a PA problem. Keep single PA losers small and boring. 20-PA correlation: remaining air should be computed per PA, then looked at as a stack if they share the same NQ tick.

News straddles are banned. A two-sided bracket into FOMC is a rules fail even if remaining air is $2,800. Directional is allowed. Pick a side or pick the sidelines.

Peak-equity Guard, 16:50 ET flatten, 30% green cap

Build an Apex profile in Venasri Equity Guard that tracks session peak floating equity and flattens when giveback consumes about half of remaining trail. Time flatten 16:50 ET. Do not reuse Topstep 15:10 CT EOD logic (wrong city, wrong trail). Keep full 24/7 MT5 Bot Control off PA black-box mode. Semi-auto stops only.

Use the ZeroMQ MT5 Bridge for any FX book you run at the same time, with a separate 00:00 guard, so Apex tick math and FX midnight math never share a profile name. 8-day payout, 5x $50 days, 30% consistency, first $25,000 at 100% per PA: that is the reward sheet. Remaining air is the survival sheet. Apex pays people who watch remaining air.

Frequently Asked Questions: Apex Trader Funding Daily Drawdown Rules: Exact 4:59 PM ET market close (must be flat before close) Rollover Math & Protection

How do I calculate Apex remaining drawdown air?

On $100K, start with $3,000. Subtract the giveback from session peak unrealized equity. If you peaked +$2,200 and now sit +$100, you have used $2,100 of trail and have about $900 left, not $2,900. Closed PnL of +$100 does not restore the brochure $3,000. Be flat by 4:59 PM ET.

What is the Apex 30% rule?

At payout, no single trading day may be more than 30% of total profit balance. PA accounts also use a 30% maximum negative PnL per trade rule. You can pass the $6,000 target and still wait on an 8-day, 5x $50 payout if one day was a windfall. There is also a 5:1 max stop-to-target ratio.

Does Apex lock trailing drawdown?

Yes. The intraday trail follows peak unrealized equity until it locks near initial balance plus $100 on the Performance Account. After lock, you cannot trail below that shelf. That is when payouts become realistic, and when sitting tight to the lock becomes dangerous.

What time does Apex daily session end?

You must be flat before 4:59 PM ET every day, including Friday. There is no weekend hold. Evaluation is seven minimum days. Using 3:10 PM CT Topstep time or 00:00 UTC forex time on Apex will either flatten you early or leave you in the contract into the ET close.
