The room left after the spike is the real budget
On the $100K example, a +$2,200 unrealized run that fades to +$100 can leave about $900 of the original $3,000 trail. The next click, if it risks $500, is more than half of what remains. If it risks $1,000 because you doubled the lot, it can end the account while the closed day still looks like a small loss. The 2.5% line of $2,500 is the wrong number to stare at once the trail has moved.
The behaviors are ordinary and expensive: a cluster of new trades after the stop, a stop dragged farther away, a burst of edits inside a minute, an add under a loser, or a lot more than double the plan. You also must be flat before 4:59 PM ET, so the revenge trade cannot be "held until tomorrow to work." Tomorrow is a new session only if this one is still alive at the close.
Widening the stop breaks the 5:1 rule and the dollars
A 60-point MNQ stop at four micros is about $480. Drag it to 120 points and the same four micros are $960, and the target you left in place may now be worse than 5:1. The firm prohibits a stop larger than five times the target. The widen is both a tilt tell and a rule break. Put the stop on at the fill and leave the distance alone.
Performance Accounts add a 30% maximum negative PnL per trade beside the trail. A revenge add is the trade most likely to trip that cap. Confirm the base on the dashboard. Manual Trade Guard, on an MT5 book, refuses the naked click by attaching the original stop. On Tradovate you need the stop live before the urge to "give it room" shows up.
One idea, then the session is done
After a full stop, the next order waits for the next planned window, which on indexes is after the 13:30 UTC candle has closed, and never in the five minutes of irritation that follow the loss. Bot Control can hold that pause on an MT5 account tied to the same risk card. It cannot cancel an NQ order you place by hand on Rithmic. The pause is a rule you keep on both screens.
Semi-automated assistants are allowed. An assistant that adds size after a loss is the bot version of tilt, and unattended black-box bots are prohibited on PA accounts anyway. Equity Guard at $1,750 stops the day before $2,500. If the trail's remaining room is under $1,000, flatten earlier than the guard. The guard does not know the trail moved.
A hero win is the other kind of tilt
The payout rule is the mirror image. No single day may be more than 30% of the profit balance. A revenge sequence that finally "works" for $2,400 on a $6,000 profit is about 40% and can block the withdrawal even though the account survived. Stop when the day is up about $1,500. The first $25,000 per account is paid at 100%, then 90%, on an 8-trading-day cycle that also wants 5 days of $50 or more.
Register a free Venasri account and write the pause next to the lot: four MNQ, 60 points, one attempt, flat by 4:50 PM ET. Up to 20 PA accounts do not give you 20 revenge clicks. Each book has its own $2,500 day and its own trail. The evaluation fee on $100K is $137. A doubled NQ stop costs more than that fee in one print.
