From standard lots to MGC
Treat 1.00 standard lot as 100 ounces, about $100 per $1, the same economic size as one GC. A 50-pip stop in the usual gold convention is a $5 move. At 0.80 lots that is $400. At 1.45 lots it is $725. A 70-pip stop is a $7 move: $560 at 0.80 lots and about $1,015 at 1.45 lots. Micro gold, MGC, is $10 per $1, so eight micros with a $5 stop are $400 and fourteen micros are $700.
The day is $2,500 and the trail starts at $3,000. A planned $1,015 loss fits the day once. It is 40% of the day and a third of the starting trail. A second gold idea on top of it does not fit. The 5:1 rule still applies: a $7 stop needs a target of at least $1.40 of price. Flat before 4:59 PM ET. Gold does not get an overnight exception.
A COMEX wick only stays inside the day if the stop fills
Fourteen MGC with a $5 stop risk $700. The same fourteen with a $25 wick and no stop risk $3,500, which is through both the $2,500 day and the $3,000 trail. The lot cap is not a substitute for the order. Manual Trade Guard can put that stop on an MT5 XAUUSD fill. On the futures ticket you place the MGC stop at the fill, before the reopen prints.
One GC is ten MGC. Traders who "round up to the full contract" turn a $400 to $700 plan into $100 per $1. A $7 adverse move on one GC is $700, similar to the top of the band, and a $25 move is $2,500 exactly. Full GC belongs in a plan that can lose $2,500 on purpose. This 0.50% plan cannot. Equity Guard at $1,750 is the session alarm on a parallel MT5 gold book.
Open gold profit walks the trail up
A gold runner that shows +$1,800 open and then gives back $1,400 still moves the intraday trail by the peak. You can flatten green and have less room than you started with. That is the same mechanic as the NQ example, just in ounces. Scale out before the giveback, and be flat by 4:50 PM ET so the reopen is tomorrow's problem on a fresh day, not a position you were not allowed to hold.
PA accounts also carry a 30% maximum negative PnL per trade. A full GC disaster is the trade that finds that cap. Confirm the base on the dashboard. Bot Control can pause an MT5 gold book after a losing close and through a one-sided news posture. Apex allows directional news trades and prohibits straddles. The futures pause is still your rule on the platform.
Eight to fourteen micros, then stop
For a $100K evaluation, 8 MGC with a $5 stop is the 0.80-lot end of the band, and 14 MGC is near the 1.45-lot end on a shorter stop. The 6% target is $6,000. At $500 of risk you still need 10 to 16 trades and 7 separate days. One gold reopen does not pass the account, and it can spend the trail. The fee is $137. A no-stop GC wick costs more than the fee.
Create a free Venasri account and store 8 MGC as the default, with 14 as the maximum, never 1 GC, for this balance. Semi-automated assistants may help place the stop. Unattended bots may not run the PA. The 100% split on the first $25,000 is available after the gold trade is flat and the trail still has room.
