What $10,000 means on the 2-Step floor
On a $100,000 2-Step account the maximum loss is 10% of the initial balance, so the account fails at $10,000 down from the start, not from the highest closed day. Standard and Swing share that static floor. They differ on news and weekend holding, not on the lifetime number. If you start a free Venasri account, you can track that floor in dollars instead of waiting for the breach email.
The published $100,000 evaluation fee is $540. The fee does not buy extra loss room. Four minimum trading days still apply while you work toward the 10% Phase 1 target and the 5% Phase 2 target. A single oversized ticket can still be flagged in review even though FTMO does not publish a hard best-day formula.
How the 1-Step trail differs from that static line
The 1-Step maximum is also 10%, and the type is end-of-day trailing rather than a line frozen at the initial balance. A day that closes well can move the floor up. Giving the gain back later spends room you no longer have. That is the wrong shape for a trader who needs the original $10,000 of room to stay put after a winning week.
Daily loss on the 1-Step path is 3%, which is $3,000 on $100,000, tighter than the 5% day on the 2-Step path. The trail and the daily test run together. Passing the day and still sinking the trailing floor is a real way to fail with a green morning still on the screen.
Daily loss is not the same test as the lifetime floor
The 2-Step daily limit is 5% of the reference used at 00:00 CE(S)T, built from the day-start balance plus floating profit and loss. On $100,000 that daily cash line is $5,000. You can breach it while the static 10% floor is still far away. Set Equity Guard inside the official daily line so a floating dip is closed before Prague marks a new day.
Platforms are MT5, MT4, cTrader, and DXtrade. Automation is allowed, with a hard ceiling of 2,000 order and modification requests in a day. That cap does not replace the drawdown math. A quiet 10% bleed and a frantic modify loop are different failures, and either one ends the account.
Which floor to plan around before the first ticket
Pick the static 2-Step floor if you need the original balance to stay the reference after a winning week. Pick the 1-Step only if you can live with an end-of-day trail and a 3% day. Open MT5 bot control on the platform FTMO actually issued, and keep modifications spare so the request ceiling is not the thing that fails you first.
There is no published pass rate that says one path is easier. The measurable gap is the floor type and the daily percentage. Swing at 1:30 maximum leverage still uses the static 10% floor. It does not convert that floor into a trail.
