The add-on is the permission, not the platform logo
MT5 evaluations on Dual Step and Nexus can run an expert advisor when the EA add-on and the firm rules are in place. Lightning 1-Step prohibits that automation unless the add-on is purchased. Buying MT5 access and buying the EA permission are two different checkouts. A bot that worked on a Dual Step practice login is a rules problem on a Lightning account that never took the add-on.
ThinkTrader, which includes TradingView charts, sits under the same message ceiling as MT5. A strategy that modifies orders on both platforms in one day draws from one pool of 2,000 messages. The firm is backed by ThinkMarkets. The server that counts the messages is the ThinkMarkets server, and the day still resets at 00:00 GMT+2 or GMT+3 regardless of how quiet the equity curve looks.
What 2,000 messages can and cannot buy
Two thousand messages is enough for a handful of entries, a stop, a breakeven move, and a few partial closes, repeated across a normal session. It is not enough for a trail that sends a modification on every tick of NAS100 through the New York cash open. One symbol updating twice a second for half an hour is already in the thousands. The account can be green and still fail the operational limit.
Keep the stop stepped. Move it when structure changes, or when a partial has been taken, rather than on every 1-point flicker. Bot controls should count modifications as a scarce budget. A risk helper that only attaches the original stop and then waits uses a tiny fraction of 2,000. A grid that rewrites five tickets every few seconds does not.
An allowed EA still dies on the 4% or 3% day
Permission to automate does not widen Dual Step daily loss, which stays at 4%, or $4,000 on $100,000, beside a static 8% maximum. Lightning daily loss stays at 3%, or $3,000, beside a 6% end-of-day trail. An EA that averages into gold can print either line in a single COMEX wick while every message it sent was technically legal.
Cap the automated unit near 0.50% of the balance, which is $500 on $100,000, if you want several full stops to fit inside the day. At $650, which is 0.65%, six Dual Step stops are $3,900 and the seventh crosses $4,000. The message cap and the loss cap fail different reviews. You can satisfy one and lose the account on the other. Size the ticket before you count the messages.
Attach the stop once, then leave the ticket alone
Equity Guard should flatten Dual Step near $3,250 of daily loss on $100,000 and Lightning near $2,250. That flatten is one message, or a small batch of closes, and it is worth more than a trail that chats with the server all morning. Put the protective stop on at the fill, then add breakeven and partial targets only when price has actually paid.
Create a Venasri login and store the add-on status next to the product name. A Dual Step card with the EA add-on, a Nexus card with the same add-on, and a Lightning card without it are three different permissions. If the add-on is missing, the bot desk should refuse to send automated orders rather than discover the block in a review email.
