Dual Step and Nexus share a fixed $8,000 hole
On the flagship 2-step book the maximum loss is 8% of the starting balance, measured as a static floor. A $100,000 account is finished at $92,000 equity. Nexus, the 3-step path, uses that same static 8%. Profit above the start does not push the floor up on these two products, and a later payout does not rewrite the original $8,000 distance unless the firm scales the account onto a new balance.
The daily line beside that floor is 4%, or $4,000 on $100,000. Two full days equal the entire maximum. Phase 1 on Dual Step asks for 8%, or $8,000, and Phase 2 asks for 5%, or $5,000, across at least three trading days. The profit you are chasing in Phase 1 is the same cash amount that deletes the account. That symmetry is the whole personality of the static card.
Lightning trails 6% from the end-of-day peak
Lightning is the 1-step path. Its maximum is 6%, and the firm marks that trail at the end of the day rather than from the original balance alone. On $100,000 the first floor is $6,000 down, at $94,000. If an end-of-day equity peak later prints $104,000, a 6% trail measured from that peak sits near $97,760. The account can be in profit and still be one bad session from a breach that the original $94,000 line would have survived.
The Lightning day is 3%, or $3,000 on $100,000. Three losing days of 1% are the entire daily allowance and half of the trailing maximum. ThinkCapital is backed by ThinkMarkets, with the daily anchor taken at 00:00 server time, GMT+2 or GMT+3, from the higher of day-start balance or equity. An open winner held into that snapshot can lift both the next day and, once the day closes higher, the trail itself.
Read the product name before you memorize $8,000
A Dual Step habit copied onto Lightning runs out of air $2,000 early on the maximum and $1,000 early on the day. The published $100,000 Dual Step fee is $399, which is cheap enough that traders buy Lightning in the same checkout and then trade the looser card. The platforms are MT5 and ThinkTrader. The platform does not tell you which floor you purchased. The product name does.
News is permitted during the evaluation and tightens to a two-minute window on either side of red-folder events once the account is funded. A stop that slips through CPI still counts against whichever daily line you actually have. Weekend holding on a funded account needs the swing add-on. Overnight holding is already allowed. None of those permissions add a percent to an 8% static floor or to a 6% trail.
Use 3.25% on Dual Step and 2.25% on Lightning
Set Equity Guard to flatten Dual Step and Nexus at 3.25% daily loss. On $100,000 that is $3,250, leaving $750 before the official $4,000 print. Lightning should flatten near 2.25%, or $2,250, because the official day is $3,000. A single guard number stored for every ThinkCapital login will close one of those products on the wrong side of the firm line.
Bot controls should load the floor from the product, including whether the maximum is static or an end-of-day trail. Open a Venasri account and keep Dual Step, Nexus, and Lightning as separate risk cards. After any end-of-day peak on Lightning, recompute the dollar distance to the 6% trail before the next session sizes a trade.
