The $12.90 pip is the whole story
One lot is 100,000 EUR. Quote is GBP, pip value ≈ $12.90. A 15-pip stop is $193.50 per lot. $1,000 / $193.50 ≈ 5.17, rounded to 5.16. A 20-pip stop is 3.88 lots at 1%. Traders who copy 5.00 EURUSD lots are close on the number and wrong on the dollar risk: 5.00 × 15 × 12.90 = $967, which then creeps to 6 lots because "it felt light."
Typical spreads are 0.2 to 0.7 pips. Daily ATR is 32 to 52 pips. Intraday stops belong at 12 to 20 pips. A 6-pip scalp on 13 lots is the midline of a range pair and a 15% spread tax on a 0.6 pip quote.
Dual-bank Thursday is why 2.58 lots is the default
A 5% floor is $5,000. 5.16 lots need 75 pips to end the day, which is more than one ATR plus slip. Dual ECB and BoE Thursdays can travel the full 32 to 52 pip ATR in an hour. 5.16 × 40 × 12.90 ≈ $2,662. 2.58 lots at 15 pips is $500 clean, about $1,331 on that same 40-pip policy hour.
If you start free on Venasri, flatten into overlapping ECB and BoE windows. Set Venasri Equity Guard to close EURGBP near 3.0% so a "quiet pair" cannot spend a daily limit with a $12.90 pip.
EURUSD plus GBPUSD already is EURGBP
Long euro and short Cable is a synthetic Chunnel. If those two USD tickets are open, you do not get a third 2.58 lots of EURGBP. Use the cross only when you want dollar insulation, not as a third expression of the same European view.
Correlation Guard should cap that triangle. 0.8400, 0.8450, and 0.8500 are where dual-bank Thursdays find those stacked stops.
Size from 0.8450 in European hours only
Measure the stop beyond the 25, 50, 75, or 00 figure plus 1.5× ATR. If that is 18 pips, 0.50% is 500 / (18 × 12.90) ≈ 2.15 lots. Do not cut to 8 pips to keep 5.16 lots because NFP is due and you want to "stay in something."
Confirm 06:30 to 11:30 UTC, spread under 0.7 pips, and no dual-bank Thursday on the AI Pre-Trade Checklist. Chunnel lots look like EURUSD. The $12.90 pip is why a small range still needs a 0.50% default.
