What midnight does, and what it refuses to do
The reset is 00:00 server time, UTC+2 or UTC+3. The anchor is the closed balance. If the closed balance is $100,000 and a gold trade is $3,200 green at the clock, the next day is not computed from $103,200. You do not inherit a higher floor the way a higher-of-equity desk would. Open a Venasri account and turn off any preset that assumes midnight rebases the day from floating equity.
That kindness is the trap's disguise. Traders hear balance-based and decide an open loser can dip under the line as long as they close back above it. They cannot. The touch is immediate. A trade that prints $5,050 down on a $100,000 2-Step and then recovers is a dead account with a pretty final price.
A worked night that still fails at lunch
Closed balance $101,500 after a winning Tuesday. Open profit at 00:00 is $2,000, equity $103,500. Lark Funding does not lift Wednesday's floor for that $2,000. Wednesday's 5% still references the closed balance. If you then lose the $2,000 float and another $4,200, you are in breach territory on the day even though Tuesday's closed gain is still in the account. The static maximum, 8% to 10%, may still be intact. The daily rule does not care.
Equity Guard should measure loss from the closed-balance reference, not from the floating high you saw at midnight. Flatten near $4,000 under that reference on a $100,000 2-Step. Bot Control can leave the winner on, because the firm allows the hold, and still cut it if the giveback approaches the line.
The 1-Step trail is a second midnight story
The balance-based daily rule is separate from the 1-Step's trailing 6% maximum. The trail can follow equity highs even when midnight does not reprice the day. A $4,000 open profit on the 1-Step can ratchet the $6,000 hole, and giving it back after 00:00 spends trail that the daily reset did not restore. Prestige-style static comfort does not apply. Lark's 2-Step maximum is the static one, from 8% to 10%. The 3-Step is static at 5%.
Weekend holding is allowed, so Sunday is just another touch test. News is permitted without a 2-minute confiscation, so CPI before or after midnight is allowed and fully counted. There is no best-day rule on 1-Step or 2-Step to explain a failure that happened on a green closed week.
How profitable accounts get the email
The pattern is a green closed balance, an open trade, and a belief that the firm only looks at the day-end number. The firm looks at the closed balance for the reset and at live equity for the breach. Both are true. Expert Advisors that flatten only at 23:59 and ignore the touch at 10:15 are coded for the wrong half of the rule.
Risk guards are allowed. High-frequency trading, latency arbitrage, and grid martingale are not. The cap is 2,000 requests a day. You do not need a chatty trail to survive midnight. You need a stop that is on, a guard near $4,000 on the $100,000 2-Step, and a clear note that floating green at 00:00 is not a new floor. The first payout, 14 days or 7 with the add-on, at 80% to 90%, is what you collect if the touch never happens.
