The funded blackout is 2 minutes on each side
The restriction is stated for the funded stage: no trading 2 minutes before a Tier-1 release and 2 minutes after it. Four minutes of clock time is the whole rule. A pending bracket that fills inside that window is still a trade. Flattening a second early, with a buffer for a late click, is how you stay outside the window rather than on its edge.
The evaluation is not described with the same funded blackout. Traders who practice news shots on the eval and then keep the habit on the funded book are changing products without changing behavior. When the account flips to funded, the 2-minute rule arrives even if the 2.5 percent day and the 3 percent maximum did not change. Create a Venasri login and tag the account stage so the blackout turns on with the funding, not after the first CPI.
A slipped stop is a daily-loss event, not a complaint
If you are already in, and the stop fills through the number during the release, the extra distance counts against the 2.5 percent day immediately. On $100,000 that day is $2,500. One Nasdaq E-mini is $20 a point. A stop that was 20 points away and fills 40 points away is an extra $400 on one contract, and $800 on two. That extra is not a dispute. It is loss.
Gold is the other release instrument. At $10 per 0.10 move on 1.00 lot, a 30-pip slip beyond the planned stop is $300 a lot. At 1.45 lots that slip is $435 before the planned risk is counted. The 50 to 70 pip structural stop was supposed to be the loss. The release can make it larger. Bot controls should be flat into the print instead of trusting the stop to be the stop.
Two slipped contracts can finish the day
A planned $500 risk that slips to $1,200 is still one idea, and it has used almost half of the $2,500 day. A second idea in the same release is how funded accounts die while the trader believes the blackout was only for new entries. If a position is open, the blackout has already been missed. The daily line does not grade intent.
The 30 percent consistency rule is the other news trap. A release day that books $2,400 toward a $6,000 target is 40 percent of that target. The loss line may be fine, because you made money, and the consistency rule can still raise the profit you owe. News winners are the usual way a 7-day evaluation gets its oversized day.
Be out before the minute, not during it
Equity Guard should already be armed at $1,750 on $100,000 so a slip that runs has a cash ceiling $750 before $2,500. The guard is the backstop. The actual news plan is to be flat 2 minutes early and to stay flat 2 minutes after. A flatten that fires during the print is better than holding, and it is worse than being out beforehand, because the fill is the slip.
Tier-1 mornings often land near 12:30 UTC, which is before the 13:30 UTC cash open. You can have a news event and an opening whip in the same hour. Both are reasons to wait. The CME close at 4:00 PM CT is a separate deadline. A position you kept because you wanted the post-news trend still has to be flat before that close.
